David's Story

David was a mechanic for forty years until the dealership that he worked for was forced to close. He had been unemployed for nine months before he approached Jigsaw under the New Deal Scheme. After a discussion with his advisor, it was decided that he should widen his employment options and seek employment outside of the motor trade. His confidence was boosted by his advisor and an application for the position of Stock Control Manager at the local branch of a leading department store was successful.

David is now happily settled in his new position and even has the keys to the store.

"All these years up to my elbows in motor oil and axle grease when I could have had a clean, responsible position like this." David said during a recent call to his advisor " Working with a broker certainly helped me back into employment, I would recommend it to anybody looking for a new job or career change".

Samina's Story

Samina had been a State Enrolled Nurse for fifteen years looking after elderly patients until constant lifting created too much strain for her back. After consultation with her Jigsaw Advisor it was suggested that she should develop her interest in reflexology into a career. She gained the necessary qualifications and she now rents a room in a local hairdressing/beauty therapy centre practising as a holistic therapist. Her skills have been a worthy addition to the premises that she trades from and her reputation has grown rapidly creating a significant number of clients for her.

"I was very depressed at the prospect of being unable to nurse anymore but the discussion with Jigsaw and my subsequent move into my own business has been a huge success. I didn't think that I would replace nursing as a career but now I am happier than ever"
